Kody Brown wants to “retire” with Robyn and makes a surprising statement about the reality show: “Dangerous for loving families.”
Kody Brown has revealed that he’d like to “retire” his only wife Robyn from reality TV, insisting that the reality TV world is not only challenging, but also “dangerous for loving families.”
The Sister Wives star and former husband of four shared this goal on a Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Reunion Edition of The Viall Files podcast, where Kody was joined by the other four finalists from Season 4.
At one point during the episode, Kody– who didn’t get along with many of his ‘Special Forces’ castmates– was asked about his personal life, specifically if he believes that being on reality TV had “impacted” his three marriages that ended in divorce.
While Kody claimed that “certain things” happened that affected these relationships, the father of 18 did seem concerned that reality TV could eventually cause his marriage to Robyn to implode, as well.
“It’s a challenge to be in reality TV,” Kody said. “I’d like to retire my wife Robyn from television so they can’t pit us against each other now.”

Kody– who is estranged from many of the children he shares with his ex-wives– also claimed on the podcast that being on reality TV can be detrimental to families.
“ … the thing about reality TV that is so dangerous for loving families is they’re looking for the rub, the grind, the tension,” Kody explained.
“They’re looking for that and if you play into that, you can be with your best friend and start looking critical. You can be with your wife and starting looking critical or be criticized … .
“ … you have to be really well-grounded, and you know, 16 years into it, I’m just trying to still find my way in this world because it’s definitely a world of he said, she said, and it’s hard to feel accountable … ,” he added.

While Kody and Robyn are arguably filming together now more than ever, Kody insisted their relationship is “solid.” He also made a point to mention how much his ‘Special Forces’ co-stars had to hear him talk about her during the competition.
“ … I like to talk about my wife, who is shy [and] doesn’t want me talking about her, but you know, [she’s] my favorite person in the world,” he said.

In a recent interview with Decider, Kody spoke about the fact that he “should be protecting” Robyn from his critics, after insisting that she’s the one who’s protective of him.
“That’s the problem,” Kody said. “When I got a big mouth and I’m running it all the time, she has to sort of say, ‘He’s really a nice guy.’ She’s like, with everybody, ‘He’s not abusive. He’s a really nice guy.’ I’m just talking constantly.”

During the same interview, Kody revealed that Robyn felt “embarrassed” while watching him compete on ‘Special Forces,” as she’s “very protective” and didn’t appreciate the “reactions” and “treatment” he received from some of his fellow competitors.
He also confirmed that he decided not to bring Robyn along on the ‘Special Forces’ press tour as he didn’t want his shy and pretty wife to get into it with anyone from the cast.
“I had to leave her home because I didn’t want her to get on anybody’s case about it,” he said.
