Dang It! This Is Why the Truth Hurts: Goodbye, Cassius
We’ve watched enough General Hospital over the years to have known from the start that no way, no how was Cassius’ secret going to remain a secret forever.
Where’s the fun in that, after all? What we didn’t predict, however, was that when the truth came out, the character would be out, too!
Dang It! This Is Why the Truth Hurts
For weeks, we as well as Cassius have felt that his days posing as his late brother Nathan would soon be coming to an end.
We’d hoped and assumed that, once he was exposed, his sins would be forgiven, and he’d be revealed to have more in common with James’ father than half brother Peter.
But coming up this summer, “Cassius risks a clean getaway to say goodbye,” headwriters Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten tell Soap Opera Digest. His “life as Nathan comes crashing down, and we’ll learn whether his masquerade has changed him for the better.”
Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow
Our suspicion is that, yes, absolutely, getting to know Nathan’s loved ones has indeed transformed Cassius into someone who more closely resembles his reformed mother Liesl than his villainous father Faison. In fact, regardless of the lies that Cassius told left and right, we altogether believe that his feelings for Lulu were true.
So perhaps it will be she who provides viewers with a forgiving lens through which to view her former lover. “His legacy,” the scribes say, “will not be determined so much by his own decisions but by the choice of someone he leaves behind.”
Fingers crossed that the choice that someone makes leaves the door open for Cassius to return again down the line!
