We know pregnancies can catch people by surprise, but the news that General Hospital‘s Laura Wright (Carly) was expecting was utterly shocking! It was also totally false! Welcome to the age of misinformation, folks.

It turns out, a less-than-reputable Facebook fan page posted a photo of Wright and beau Wes Ramsey (ex-Peter) holding up what looks like an ultrasound of a baby.

Fortunately, a dubious fan took the photo and the post straight to the actress on X and asked, “any truth to this?”

Wright’s response? “No, haaa. This is fake!!!!” It’s four exclamation marks worth of fake in fact. It’s not clear if the image posted was Photoshopped or just flat-out AI, but either way, it’s not real. Though if it was, we’d have to say Wright looked amazing for being as pregnant as the ultrasound showed.

While Wright and Ramsey have been together since 2017, they don’t share any children themselves. With that said, Wright does have two children with ex-husband John Wright.

Their daughter Lauren was born in 1998 and their son John was born in 2000. In other words, both of them are well into their twenties and a far cry from newborns!

All of this just once again reinforces the idea that you can’t believe everything you see on social media. And the fact that there’s so much misinformation out there that we’re constantly questioning our own eyes is getting a bit worrying.

But maybe a healthy dose of skepticism never hurt, so long as we can get to the bottom of things eventually!
