Frank Valentini Speaks Out: As Kate Mansi Wrapped Up Her Role, the Longtime GH Executive Producer Shared a Heartfelt Final Message for the Daytime Emmy Winner đđ
With the previously reported news on Sunday that has now been confirmed by Kate Mansi herself, along with General Hospital executive producer, Frank Valentini, the Daytime Emmy-winning actress has wrapped her run after three years as Kristina Davis-Corinthos. Mansi finished taping in April and will last be seen on-screen in the role in June.
In Stephanie Sloaneâs weekly SoapStephâs Soap Dish newsletter, released today, Mansi spoke with the former Soap Opera Digest Editorial Director about the decision behind her exit, which in part had to with her husband Matt McInnes, who is currently the co-executive producer of the upcoming Tomb Raider series that will stream on Prime Video which stars Game of Thrones favorite, Sophie Turner.
Mansi shared, âIâve made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital. I have a few new projects that require my full attention and with my husband currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.â
KATE ALWAYS HAS A HOME AT GH
While calling Port Charles her home for the last three years, Kate added some kudos to Frank Valentini and those behind the scenes at the ABC soap opera.
âIâm incredibly grateful to Frank, ABC, and our writers for the care they gave Kristina,â shared the actress. âItâs been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. Iâve loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family.â
Meanwhile, Frank Valentini, who has been the executive producer at General Hospital since 2012, shared his sentiments, which seemed to indicate Kate would be welcomed back to GH with open arms. Currently, there are no plans for the soap opera to recast the role.
Valentini said in a statement, âWe love Kate and support her decision to leave. The door is always open, and we appreciate all that she added to the show these past three years.â
Throughout her GH tenure, Valentini also gave Kate more directorial experience which included a recent episode of Mollyâs (Kristen Vaganos) battle with endometriosis, something Mansi has been very open about in her personal life when she was diagnosed with it back in 2015.
So, what do you think about Frank Valentiniâs statement and support of Kate Mansi, given their is no plan to recast the role of Kristina at this present time? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
