Layla Taylor is revisiting a tough spot in the new season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Speaking with PEOPLE about season 4 alongside costar Miranda Hope, Layla talks about what it’s like to revisit her relationship with Mason McWhorter through the series.

“It’s been awful, to be frank, to watch back my relationship with Mason,” Layla admits. “It’s definitely hard.”

On Saturday, Feb. 7, MomToker, 24, confirmed in an emotional TikTok video that she and Mason — who first teased their relationship in July 2025 — had split, following speculation from fans.

“Obviously, it’s very fresh. Me and him haven’t even been broken up for a month yet, so it’s been very triggering,” she says of watching back season 4.

That said, Layla doesn’t have any bad blood with Mason. “I still have love in my heart for Mason, and I wish the best for him,” she concluded.

Lifting her spirits since the breakup has involved a lot of girl time, which is where Miranda comes in. The two share similar senses of humor, which they say has allowed them a way to “cope.”

“Humor is the best way,” Layla agrees,

“We definitely laugh through the pain,” Miranda acknowledges. “But also, I think Layla and I, especially our humor, is very similar, and I love that people are able to see a little bit more into not only our friendship dynamic, but also just individually, our more humorous and playful sides. I do feel like it is very much us, in a day-to-day sense.”

In the moments where Layla and Miranda aren’t focused on MomTok, they’re focused on quality time, with each other and with their kids. With a break in the action coming up, the two are excited to lean into the quiet time.

“I think I’m personally excited to just spend some time with my babies, to be a mom. I feel like obviously when we’re mid-experience and we’re doing all of the work, we’re not at home as much. And I’m just excited,” Layla says.

“I’ve had some trips lined up for me and my babies to take and just spend quality one-on-one time together.”

“And we all have a lot of fun, exciting things we’re working on that I think people will continue to watch unfold,” Miranda adds. “But I think all of us can agree that just having a break and just being able to spend that quality time with our kids and our families and friends, that’ll be really nice.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 4 premieres on Thursday, March 12, on Hulu and Hulu on Disney +.
