Janelle Brown is opening up about her recent cancer scare. The Sister Wives star, 54, revealed on Monday that she had to have two pre-cancerous spots removed.
âPosting this picture as a reminder to get your skin checked,â Brownâs caption read alongside a snap of stitches on her lip. âEven if you have ALWAYS been careful about sunscreen. I am and always have been. You have to when you are as fair as I am.â
âI had a basal cell carcinoma removed right after Covid,â she added. âI go in annually to have a head to toe check. Today I had 2 pre-cancerous spots frozen and a tiny lump removed from my lip.â
In 2021, Brown revealed she was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. In an Instagram post at the time, the reality TV star revealed that viewers had noticed a blemish above her lip in scenes from Sister Wives.
She then got checked by doctors, which resulted in her being diagnosed with a non-malignant form of skin cancer.
Brown said she âstarted to see what looked like a scar develop in an area on my lip where all of my cold sores for the past two decades have erupted.â
She first thought it âwas a new cold sore forming, but then it never developed and just stayed.â

When Sister Wives fans saw Janelle Brown lash out at Kody Brown a few seasons ago, it almost seemed as if one day, she woke up, he enraged her, and the beginning of the end happened for the TLC star. However, this week, she revealed that it didnât actually happen like that at all. Read on for more details.
No Dramatic Single Moment
On Wednesday, Janelle took to her Instagram. There, she talked about how the slow way life sometimes slips out of place. And, she claimed that nothing dramatic happened in a single moment.
Instead, she spoke about how a quiet feeling crept in. She wrote a caption talking about it. In it, the TLC star said, âYouâre living your life the way youâve always lived it and then suddenly you notice⊠hmm⊠this doesnât feel like mine anymore.â
Next, Janelle explained that the changes in her started before fans knew about it. Elaborating, she continued by adding, âI kept trying to squeeze myself into roles and routines that just didnât fit the woman I was becoming. Honestly, it felt confusing.â
However, she also felt that despite the confusion, when she finally realized the end had come, she âfelt relief.â
Her Turning Point With Kody
So now, fans know that things started changing for Janelle long before she left Kody. And, she let her followers know that they can also recognize the shift when it comes. She wrote, âonce you notice it, you canât un-notice it and thatâs where everything starts to shift.â
Obviously, once she realized what happened, she moved far away from Flagstaff. These days, she pours her energy into a new life and new work that fits the woman she became.
Focus On Family And A New Business
Janelle now spends much of her time in North Carolina alongside her daughter, Maddie Brown Brush. There, they work on their Taeda Farms project.
Actually, fans love that she now has the space to also grow some new ideas about life. After all, she supports Maddieâs young family, has a business with purpose down the road, and no longer worries about a marriage that no longer fits her.
Janelleâs message also reached out to her fans and she offered some advice about taking notice of the little voice that might tell someone things are not right.
