Ted Gets Divorce Papers, Kat Calls Tomas a Bore in Bed and Peaches Drops a Bombshell About Leslie’s Mother

 

At her mom’s, Eva urges her mother to answer the call coming in. She thinks it’s a bill collector and lets it go to voicemail. It rings again and she answers it. A man says they’ve been trying to contact her.

He’s a bill collector, looking for ten grand. She disconnects as Eva gasps at how much she owes. She wants Eva to get her some of Ted’s money since she doesn’t believe the inheritance is real.

Ted brings divorce papers to Anita and Vernon at the club. He asks them to stop this but this is the first they’re hearing about it. Nicole walks in with Carlton and Anita tells her son-in-law to talk to her about it.

At their table, Carlton refuses to leave upon seeing Ted. He thinks they’re good. They had breakfast recently. Nicole says today is different since he just got served and Carlton’s part of the reason why. Nicole calls the past few months trying. Breakfast with Carlton took her away from the bitterness.

At their table, Vernon gets Ted to sit with them. Ted asks if this is what they want for their girls to be both divorced. Anita brings up his cheating ways and blames him. Is that a conversation he wants to have? Vernon tells him Nicole’s slipping through Ted’s fingers and there’s nothing he can do.

Ted thinks he’s tried, sent flowers and cards. Anita and Vernon scoff at that. He put less effort into saving the marriage than into building a relationship with the child who tried to destroy it.

Ted goes to Nicole and Carlton gives them a moment while Nicole tells her husband it’s over and has been since their anniversary. Ted goes and Anita and Vernon go to their daughter.

They just wanted her happiness and know that it’ll return.

At  home, Naomi tells June the kids want to meet her. June’s nervous. Naomi calls them good kids and June worries they’ll be ashamed of her. She has to do what’s right since they’re not her babies anymore.

She thinks it’s best to break their hearts now. Naomi dresses June up and does her nails while June recalls one night when she thought she would change. It didn’t happen.

The night she went for groceries and came home high, Cecile (Samantha) was afraid of her. It broke something in June. She had to give them up. All Ronald (Tyrell) wanted was love and they were the most perfect part of her.

 

At home, Martin and Smitty talk to Samantha and Tyrell about seeing June. They know how this will be rough on them but Martin vows they’ll make it through. The kids dash upstairs while the parents can’t believe they agreed to meet her. Smitty’s not happy that she abandoned them and then apologizes.

It’s been a long day. He’s happy Martin’s there. Martin’s worried he could lose him and will bring it up in therapy with his mom. Smitty’s glad to hear this news. They hold hands and create a temporary truce.

Upstairs, the kids worry June will take them. Tyrell recalls her leaving them alone to do drugs.

She was so high she didn’t recall how she got home one night.

The kids head downstairs as June and Naomi arrive. “Ronald and Cecile?” June says, in awe. They tell her their names and she meets Martin (Pop) and Smitty (Dad). It’s awkward. She tells them they’ve a nice home and they sit. June’s apologetic about staring at how grown the kids are. She’s missed everything.

She assumes Tyrell’s into math and science and learns about his advanced placement in calculus and how brilliant Samantha is. She says she’s the spokesmodel for her cousins’ new purse line.

June says it’s the hardest thing she did giving them up but thinks it was the right thing. She wanted more for them than she could give and asks if they get it.

Sam says they only wanted her. Tyrell snorts that she was always gone or locked in her room. “Nothing was okay,” he tells her. He’s grateful for his dads. June’s so sorry she hurt them. “I don’t have a mother,” Tyrell says.

June says she’s there now but Sam reminds her she never was. June says she lost her apartment and got deep into drugs.

She lost everything and her memory. She’s not sure she could handle what she did to them. She shows them the worn photo she’s carried of them. She tells them she got sick and stopped the drugs.

Things started coming back to her. She recalls the letter she wrote, wanting them to have a better life. Naomi realizes this was a closed adoption. “None of us were expecting something like this,” she says. June asks if they’ve room for them.

The husbands need to discuss it as a family, privately. Tyrell takes off to study and Samantha says it’s nice to meet her. She runs off and June thanks her before the women leave. Martin thinks it’s best he moves back home.

Upstairs, the kids discuss the past and when their parents came for them. It was the best day of their lives. Sam thinks maybe June needs them.

At Kat’s place, Tomas can tell Kat isn’t having a good time. He tells her there are positions they can do. She says he’s sexy but… Tomas gets up to dress.

He’ll find out how to make things better for her. She looks forward. He tells her he’ll sweep her off her feet. After he goes, Chelsea turns up and Kat reveals she did it again with Tomas and he’s a bore in the bedroom.

And now he knows. She asks how long he’ll wait before finding someone else. They eat ice cream and Chelsea asks if Kat’s gay. She’s not. Maybe she’s asexual? Kat disputes that, too. She wants sex but worries she’ll be broken forever.

Eva runs into Tomas at Uptown. He tells her he had salsa class and she tells him that her mother about the inheritance. He lets her know he sends money to his mother back home, monthly.

They don’t make ends meet, and he doesn’t need much money. Eva calls him a saint and then starts to salsa. She asks if Kat’s a good dancer. He thinks she’s trying hard. Eva’s surprised he’s there without her. He is too. She asks what happened. She thinks it can be scary learning a new dance. Tomas never thought of this. She’s probably right. It’s crazy how he gets her.

 

Back at Leslie’s, she’s shocked when her mother, Peaches, turns up. Leslie’s not happy.

Peaches didn’t want to come but calls Dana trouble. She’s there because she paid an agent to find her heartless, thankless daughter.

Leslie tried to steal her man in order to save her life. Leslie’s glad to see her.

People there are grinding her down. At least she has sour Peaches again. Peaches tells her kid she’s dying.

Leslie thinks there has to be a mistake. She gets on her knees, emotional and sorry. Leslie needs her. Peaches says it’s time she told her who her mother is.

Back at Naomi’s, June believe in fate and says she thinks she’ll see the kids again.

Back at the club, Anita tells Nicole she wants her daughter’s happiness and says that instinct as a parent to protect, never goes away. Martin’s family is seen as is Naomi and June and Leslie and Peaches.
