General Hospital preview: Jason returns… and leaves the mob?
General Hospital fans biding their time until Steve Burton brings Jason home to Port Charles don’t have much longer to wait: The Emmy winner will reappear on air in the ABC soap’s 16,000th episode on July 13, Soap Opera Digest reports.
But there’s a catch. (Isn’t there always?) The Jason that we’re getting back won’t be the same one who left!
What Happened to Jason?
You’ll recall that when Burton bowed out in March to spend time with family, his on-screen counterpart was thrown in the pokey for shooting WSB bigwig Cullum.
(In reality, the hitman took the fall to protect the individual who’d actually pulled the trigger, Lulu and Dante’s teenage son Rocco.)
In the time that Jason has been cooling his heels behind bars, he’s become “a changed man,” headwriters Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten tell the website.
“His imprisonment has had a profound effect on… how he intends to conduct the rest of his life.”
Unmarried to the Mob
The scribes go on to hint that Jason’s change of heart will have a profound impact on his nearest and dearest – and none so much as BFF Sonny.
The Teflon don has long relied on his bosom buddy to safeguard his loved ones and smack down his loathed ones. So our hunch is that Jason’s new POV will not include a continuation of his lucrative career as a Mob enforcer.
